There are a few casinos located in the commonwealth, the biggest number being on docked barges. The largest of the Iowa casinos is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, an Indian gambling hall in Tama, with 127,669 sq.ft. of gambling area, 1,500 one armed bandits, thirty table games, such as twenty-one, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and several varieties of poker; including three restaurants, daily productions, and betting advice. An additional large Native American gambling hall is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 square feet, 668 slot machines, and fourteen table games. Additionally, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs is open 24 hours, with 38,500 square feet, 1,589 one armed bandits, 36 table games, and four eatery’s. There are numerous other popular Iowa gambling halls, including Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 sq.ft., 1,212 slots, and 39 table games.

A tinier Iowa casino is the Diamond Jo, a river based gambling hall in Dubuque, with 17,813 sq.ft., 776 slots, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend Riverboat, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 square feet, 535 slots, and 14 table games. Another Iowa water based gambling den, The Isle of Capri, is available all hours, with 24,939 sq.ft., 1,100 slot machines, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 sq.ft. river boat gambling hall in Clinton, has 506 slot machines, 14 table games, live productions, and Thursday twenty-one tournaments.

Iowa casinos provide an excellent amount of tax revenue to the state of Iowa, which has allowed the budgeting of a good many state wide activities. Tourism has increased at a fast percentage along with the request for services and a growth in jobs. Iowa gambling dens have been helpful to the expansion of the economy, and the affection for wagering in Iowa is widespread.
